Azora Advisory provides AI governance and data protection advisory services to organisations building, running, or funding AI and data-driven projects. We work from the beginning of a project to the end — so governance isn't retrofitted, it's built in.
AI systems that touch sensitive data — particularly in health, research, and financial services — carry real legal and reputational risk. The question is never whether the risk exists. It's who carries it when something goes wrong.
Most organisations building with AI are operating in a fast-moving legal landscape, across multiple jurisdictions, with simultaneous obligations to data subjects, independent review boards, data protection agencies, and funders. Few have the in-house expertise to manage all of this well. Many don't know what they don't know.
The consequences — regulatory censure, funder withdrawal, reputational damage, or legal liability — often arrive long after the governance gap was created. By then, it's expensive to fix and sometimes impossible to undo.
African states signed the Africa Declaration on Artificial Intelligence in April 2025.

The Declaration commits the continent to AI governance frameworks, cross-border data standards, and responsible deployment. The demand for practitioners who can make these commitments real — who can sit inside programmes, navigate multi-jurisdictional law, and build governance from the ground up — is growing faster than the supply.
